Several months ago, God shared with me a precious picture of my relationship with Him. I saw my front porch and rocking chairs. Jesus was sitting in one rocker and I was in the other. I was overwhelmed with the peace, joy, and freedom of simply being in His presence. It is in this place that He often speaks to me. This blog is dedicated to those conversations.

A Few of My Favorite Things: Two Simple Words

Two very simple words and yet they make a very profound statement:  Be Still.

They are two of my favorite words.

Probably because being still often is a difficult task for me.

Because I need to be reminded, often, to simply Be Still and know He is God (Psalm 46:10)

And, it is in my moments of stillness that His power is made perfect (2 Corinthians 12:9)

And because, more than sacrifice, more than motion, more than intense activity, even if all done in His name, He would still rather that I be still and rest in Him and know Him deeply.  (Hosea 6:6)

And because, when I would rather fight, it is in my stillness that He fights my battles for me.
(2 Chronicles 20:17)

There is a song by Danny Gokey called More Than You Think I Am.  It has touched my spirit deeply and even more so after I learned about his painful story in which he lost his young wife to congenital heart disease.  Out of his pain he has penned beautiful music.  His story makes each word he wrote more poignant and, though I have not faced the death of a loved one, the words rang deep into my heart and mind speaking straight into the hard situations in my own life.  I remember, as I listened to music one day.....in the middle of deep struggle.....these words refreshed my spirit

"Be still and trust my plan, I'm more than you think I am."

Be still.  Two simple words.  Packed full of so much truth and comfort.

Over the next few weeks, I will be introducing a few more of my favorite things.  Simple phrases with strong meaning that lift me up and strengthen my heart and soul.  Each of these phrases will be displayed on jewelry or wall art.  Items I can keep as reminders of the truth in each phrase.  Each of these items will be available to you as well.  I pray they will strengthen you also.  All of the proceeds from the sale of these items will be given to Firm Foundation Ministries in Centreville, MI to support the ministry there as they continue to grow and expand.

Be still are the two simple words that have strengthened me and I have chosen to put them on a hand-crafted, hand-stamped bar necklace for $20.00.  I look forward to hearing from you!

Blessings,
Melody
